Saiyuki is an adventure about four young men on a mission. When the demoness Gyokumen gets the idea to ressurect her dead demon lord husband Gyumaoh, the Buddhist Priest Genjyo Sanzo is appointed to put the project to a halt. With the help of his three demon friends of course.
When the Gyumaoh resurection project was set into motion, all the demons in the land went berserk, and began slaughtering their long time human companions. However, Gyokumen cannot complete the resurection without the Five Sacred Scriptures, known as the "Tenchi Kaigen." One of which lies in Sanzo's Possesion. The berserk demons now fight on Gyokumen's side and do her bidding. The attmpt to destroy the Sanzo Party and bring all the Sacred Scriptures at her request. But will the Sanzp Party be destroyed before their mission is complete?

 Genjyo Sanzo Japanese seiyuu: Seki Toshihiko The "Priest" Sanzo is a Buddhist Priest on a mission to stop the resurection of Gyumaoh. He's not your typical Priest seeing as he smokes, drinks, and kills. He has a nasty temper, especially when it comes to getting Gojyo and Goku to be quiet. He seems to be closest to Hakkai. Either that or he can stand Hakkai the most of the three. |
 Son Goku Japanese seiyuu: Hoshi Souichirou The Monkey King Goku is the monkey king of demons. His appetite is never satisfied and he constantly argues with Gojyo about every thing imaginable. He wears a power limiter in the shape of a headband to keep his demonic powers under control. He fights using a long pole that can extend or shrink on command. Sanzo uses a Banishing Gun to send demons to their demise. |
 Sha Gojyo Japanese seiyuu: Hirata Hiroaki The Water Sprite Gojyo is a half demon. His mother was a human and his father was a water demon. He calls Goku names and makes fun of him, often times getting him and Goku both into trouble. Gojyo uses a scythe that extends from a pole on a long chain to slice through his enemies. |
 Cho Hakkai Japanese seiyuu: Ishida Akira The Mystery Hakkai is shrouded in mystery. No one truely knows what happened in his past but him. He carries around a small white dragon named Hakuryo, which can transform into a Jeep. His transformation has given him the nickname of "Jeep." Hakkai wields a very powerful and versitile chi attack. He can use it to kill, or he can use it to heal. Like Goku, Hakkai also wears power limiters in the form of ear cuffs. |
