Zoids Battle Legends for Nintendo GameCube is a fast paced mecha combat game. You pilot one of 40 different zoids, in 4 different modes of play to dish out mass destruction to your enemies. You can customize the zoids with paint jobs and over 100 different weapons and system upgrades.

Mission Mode
Mission mode has two ways to play. You can either play on the side of the Republic or the side of the Empire. Each side follows a story told from the view of the side you choose. The characters you play as and the zoids you pilot are also determined by the chosen side. Once you choose which side to play you start the story. During this story your character will be sent on a long string of missions with specific requirements. These could include destroying all enemies, escaping a base, stopping transport zoids and other such tasks. When you complete a mission you are rewarded with new items such as more powerful zoids and artillary. The thing that makes mission mode a challenge is that you cannot buy any equipment, you must use only what you're given as rewards. Completion of a story side will unlock zoids and characters to be used in the other game play modes.
Battle Mode
Battle mode is a series of 2 on 2 battles that get more difficult as you progress. In this mode, winning a battle earns you money to buy the zoids and equipment of your choice. You begin battle mode with 2 characters of your choice and 4 low class zoids; a Cannon Tortoise, an Atak Cat (aka Hellcat), a Command Wolf, and a Molga. The catch in this mode is that the characters you choose to play with will affect who you battle.
Versus Mode
Versus mode is your usual 2 player fight to the death. You choose your character, zoid, and battlefield and duke it out to your hearts content. You can either go against another player or the computer.
Fists Mode
Fists mode is a 1 on 1 knockout match. You start up on top of a raised, circular platform with electrified floors beneath it. The aim of the game is to knock your opponent off the patform to be fried to death.
