Models and Building Tips

Building Terms

1. Sprue: A sprue is the large plastic frame on which the Zoid's pieces are attached. Depending on the number of pieces the Zoid is made up of, you could have very few sprues or you could have a whole bunch of sprues. Sprues are also known as "trees" by some builders.

2. Joint: The joint is where the piece and the sprue meet.

3. Flash: Flash is what we call the excess plastic that remains on the piece after cutting it off the sprue. Flash is not part of the piece and needs to be trimmed down very carefully so that you don't damage the piece, and to ensure proper movement when the Zoid is turned on.

Building Tips

1. Use a hard flat surface
I've found it's best to build zoids on a hard flat surface with lots of space. This way you can spread out all the plastic sprues and be able to see which sprue is which without having to rummage through piles.

2. Have good lighting
Don't build zoids in the dark for obvious reasons. Proper lighting is important. You may end up cutting of vital parts of your pieces if you can't see where to cut the pieces properly.

3. Use a small sharp knife or a pair of small scissors
Don't twist the pieces off the sprues. Twisting causes scaring and makes the zoid look pretty bad. Twisting can also rip off shiney top coat on the pieces. The best way to seperate the pieces from the sprues is to carefully cut them apart with a small exacto knife or a small pair of scissors. Cut as far away from the joint as you can. Don't cut directly against the piece to remove it from the sprue because you could cut right into the piece. Once the piece is free of the sprue very carefully cut off the flash. I reccommend very slowly and carefully shaving the flash down bit by bit with an exacto knife.
Please be careful when using knives! Knives are not toys and should be handled with care. Improper knife use can result in serious injury.

My Models

These are pictures and information about the models that I personally own. I've only been collecting models since the end of July 04, so I don't have too many yet. All measurements are to the nearest half inch. Click the pictures to enlarge them.

Q: Can I use your photographs on my own site?
A: No, but you're welcome to buy your own models and take your own photographs.

The Kadou-ou Liger Zero is a very special, very rare die-cast action figure. Only two Kadou-ou zoids were ever made; the Liger Zero and the Berserk Fuhrer. Liger does have the option of all 3 CAS units if you're lucky enough to find them. He comes prebuilt with fully removable armor. Kadou-ou means "King of the Flexible Mobile" (KFM) and Liger sure lives up to the name. He has extreme articulation including:
- Ball joints on his feet
- Ball joints at his shoulders/hips
- Hinge joints on his legs (1 each front, 2 each rear)
