A genre of anime all its own. Cowboy Bebop takes the element of the wild west, juts it into outer space and smothers it in Blues and Jazz. This is an anime of kings, a classic. The characters are unforgetable and the plot is deep, and at times depressing. Spike Speigal and his best friend Jet Black are a duo of bounty hunters, or "Cowboys". They cruise the galaxy helping to nab the badguy for a load of woolongs (space currency). Along their adventures they encounter an odd "Data Dog", an attractive lady cowboy, and a mixed up little hacker. The five of them form an interesting family that dont exactly like each other but have no where else to go.
A must see for any anime enthusiast, or if you're just looking for a good drama. Music written by the ever famous Yoko Kanno adorns this anime to top it off as pure greatness.

Jet Black
Japanese seiyuu: Ishizuka Unshou
The Black Dog
An ex police officer with a mechanical arm. A bit rough around the edges, Jet is the pilot of the Bebop. He and Spike cruise the galaxey looking for big bounties. He still has his connections with the police and can get alot of important information from them.
Faye Valentine
Japanese seiyuu: Hayashibara Megumi
The Fatal Beauty.
Always getting into some kind of trouble with the law, she was taken aboard the Bebop as a bounty herself. One way or another she became a part of the crew.
Radical Edward
Japanese seiyuu: Tada Aoi

Despite her looks and actions, Edward is a genious hacker. Known as Radical Edward on her home planet, she cause alot of trouble communicating with satellites, and once or twice took control of the Bebop using a toy plane and a remote control.
Ein
Japanese seiyuu: NA
The Data Dog.
Ein is perhaps the most intelligent member of the Bebop crew. A cute Welsh Corgi, known at first as a "Data Dog." Exactly what that means no one knows. Ein shows his intelligence in very subtle ways. He's been known to answer the phone and likes to play a good game of shogi. For all we know he could just be a silly mutt...but there's always the possability that "Ein" is short for "Einstein"
Vicious
Japanese seiyuu: Wakamoto Norio
The Evil One.
Spike's ex partner in the Red Dragon Mafia. Spike says Vicious is the only one who can kill him...and that Spike is the only one who can kill Vicious. Vicious is Spike's number one enemy, and Vicious feels the same about Spike. It's a lose lose situation, and this guy is really evil.
Julia
Japanese seiyuu: Takashima Gara
The One that got Away.
Spike's long lost love. Julia is the reason Spike and Vicious are at each others throats. Not much is known about the love triangle until further along in the show.
