Fullmetal Alchemist

"People cannot gain anything without sacrificing something. You must present something of equal value to gain something. This is the principle of equivalent trade in alchemy. We believed that was the truth of the world when we were young."

Two budding young alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, lost their mother to illness. Being the young children they were they could not bear the idea of being forced to live on their own, having no father to take care of them. So they attempt to bring her back through alchemy. Although the theory was perfect, the actual experiment was a horrible failure. Young Edward lost his left leg, and Alphonse his entire body to the "other side" during the transmutation process. In attempt to save Alphonse, Edward attaches his bodyless soul to a nearby suit of armor, and loses his right arm as well. Edward is 11, and Alphonse is 10.

A year later, Edward is equipped with synthetic limbs called Auto-Mail. He vows to restore his brothers body and believes he can do so by using the Philosopher's Stone, also know as the Sorcerer's Stone. But where to find it? Edward knows that State Alchemists are granted access to all kinds of information not available to the public, and so he tries out to become one. Now a "Dog of the Military" Edward is hated by many but determined to find that stone. But it seems others want it as well.

Characters

Edward Elric
Japanese seiyuu: Paku Romi
The Fullmetal Alchemist (15)

Lost his limbs and his brother's body in a tragic transmutation accident. After doing the unthinkable, becoming a State Alchemist at the young age of 12, Edward has vowed to find the Philosopher's Stone to restore themselves to their original bodies. But throughout his journy he has many hardships; fighting the bad guys, taking orders from Roy, and dealing with his lack of height.

Alphonse Elric
Japanese seiyuu: Kugimiya Rie
The Little Brother (14)

A gentle soul inside a formidable suit of armor. Alphonse is loyal to his brother and aids in the search for the Philosopher's Stone. He too wishes to restore their original state. Alphonse likes to help people, and sometimes small animals, by hiding them inside the belly of his armor. Alphonse, unlike his older brother, always looks at the positive side of life.

Roy Mustang
Japanese seiyuu: NA
The Flame Alchemist

Roy is Edward's boss. He sends Ed on missions in exchange for keeping Ed's illegal human transmutation experiment a secret. He's a cocky, lady loving military man that can create flames with a snap of his fingers. His glove is designed to create a spark when he snaps, and being an alchemist all he has to do is modify the air around him to create a huge explosion.

Shou Tucker
Japanese seiyuu: NA
The Chimera Maker

When it came time for Shou Tucker's State Alchemist evaluation, he got frantic. He had been studying how to make chimera's (the combination of two or more creatures into one being). He managed to create a talking chimera that died shortly after the evaluation. At the same time, his wife mysteriously disappeared, leaving him to take care of his young daughter alone.

Scar
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Hater of State Alchemists

No one knows his true name, so he's known only by the X shaped white scar on his face. For some unknown reason he hates State Alchemists with a passion, and ruthlessly hunts them down and kills them. His background is unknown.

Lust
Japanese seiyuu: NA
The Vile Beauty

With her disgusting lackey Gluttony, Lust may be the one who possess the real Philosopher's Stone. But she's not about to give it up and is very interested in Edward.

Gluttony
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Eater of All Things

He eats absolutely anything, dead or alive. His vile appetite is the end of the line for people he and Lust no longer need to do their bidding.
