Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem

In a distant galaxy, Arpegius, Stella, Octave, and Baryl are members of a popular band. During a concert they are kidnapped by the evil Earl De Darkwood and his henchmen. Aboard his spaceship they are made to appear human and their minds are erased. The Earl then poses as their manager and takes them with him to Earth to exploit their talents as a band called The Crescendolls. His plan however does not go unoticed. Shep, a huge fan of Stella, got a call from the staff working at the concert. Their cameras had captured the entire event and they immediately notified Shep who was in orbit around the planet. Enraged, Shep races off after the ship only to crash land on Earth. Can Shep get to the band in time to save them? Or will they forever be slaves to the Earl's plan?

This anime is one of a kind. It's done by the famous Leiji Matsumoto with absolutely no dialouge whatsoever. The musical duo Daft Punk provide an entire CD's worth of music to be the voice of this amazing movie. Those who put Interstella aside for its plot and lack of dialouge surely will never know what they're missing. It's one of my absolute favorite movies, and I think everyone should at least give it a chance. If you place your mouse over the first four characters below you can see each band member in both alien and human form.

Characters

Arpegius
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Lead Guitar

Arpegius seems to be the band leader. He plays a bright pink electric guitar. He tries his best to escape the Earl but like his friends eventuall gets caught. He's quite handsome as far as blue men go and also very well liked with the ladies.

Stella
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Guitar

Like Arpegius, Stella also plays guitar. Although hers is white instead of pink. One would think that Arpegius would play a white guitar, and Stella a pink. Stella is quite popular among children. In several scenes you'll find little kids dressed up in Stella costumes.

Octave
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Keyboard

Octave likes to tear up the keyboard. He's also the lead vocalist. He seems to be the smartest of the four, since he's the first to figure things out involving the Earl's plans.

Baryl
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Drums

Baryl is the drummer of the group. He's also a bit of a goofball. He almost always has a very funny grin on his face. His height makes me think he's quite young. Baryl is only about half as tall as the rest of the group.

Shep
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Pilot

Shep is the star struck fan that races out despite danger to save his beloved band. His ship is shaped like a very pointy guitar. Shep is also very much in love with Stella, and dreams of dancing in fields with her. Shep will do anything to save her and her friends from harm, even if it means risking his life to do so.

Earl De Darkwood
Japanese seiyuu: NA
Crazy Manager

The Earl de Darkwood is a very mysterious man indeed. He kidnaps The Crescendolls out of the blue and erases their memories. He colors their skin and puts them in Earth clothes in attempt to pass them off as a new Earth band. Only at the end of the movie will you truely know his deep, dark plans.
